Digbeth blueprint includes 1,850 new homes and 200,000 sq m of commercial space

Birmingham City Council has approved Studio Egret West’s proposals to regenerate a 17ha swathe of the historically industrial Digbeth area with 1,850 new homes, 200,000 sq m of new commercial space, and new shops, restaurants and leisure facilities.

SEW的计划还包括将维多利亚时期的高架桥改造成一个高水平的公园,并开放之前隐藏的Rea河的延伸,围绕着城市边缘地区的创意中心——曾经是Bird’s Custard的家。

SEW worked with Birmingham-based practices Glenn Howells Architects and Bryant Priest Newman Architects on the proposals for developer Oval Real Estate. Oval acquired the Custard Factory and neighbouring buildings in Digbeth in 2017.
