The Twentieth Century Society has called for Hopkins’ Inland Revenue office complex in Nottingham to be listed to save it from plans to convert it into homes.

The group has backed an application for grade II* listing, lodged by the Nottingham Civic Society (NCS), which argues that a planned residential conversion put the 1994 landmark under “serious threat of substantial harm”.

Considered a pioneering project at the time, the scheme includes six blocks and a striking tented structure which houses catering, sports and other facilities. This is linked stylistically toHopkins’ Schlumberger laboratoryin Cambridge of 1985, alreadylisted grade II*as an innovative enclosed tented structure.
